Sherri Kottwitz, Principal
This will be my 5th year as Principal at BMS and my 23rd year in education. I love working in WSISD and my passion is middle school age students!
Middle school can be a tough age, but I encourage you to stay involved with your children and what they do. Many times students do not want their parents around or volunteering because it is "uncool". However, now is the time to follow up so that you know exactly what he/she is doing.
Please encourage your child to try other things like school clubs and organizations. Studies show that students that feel connected in school have higher grades, fewer absences and graduate from high school.
To encourage participation we survey the students every year to find out their interests. We then we try to create clubs/organizations that he/she may be interested in participating or joining. Many of these organizations meet during the regular school day during GRIT time. Currently we have NJHS, Eco Cub, Band, Athletics, FCA, Theatre Arts, Spanish, Academic UIL, Cheer, Student Council, and Computer Club. I encourage you to volunteer, eat lunch or email with any questions you may have.
We are a team and it will take all of us to ensure your student's success.
