About Us » Principal

Sherri Kottwitz, Principal

Welcome to Brewer Middle School! This will be my 6th year as Principal at BMS and my 23rd year in education. I love working in WSISD and my passion is middle school age students!

We are a 7th and 8th grade campus with approximately 1075 students.  We begin our day at 8:00 am and end at 3:30 pm.  Our doors open at 7:30 am and students eating breakfast should arrive by 7:50 am.  It is important to note our students should be picked up, supervised in a program with a teacher or staff member, or off-campus by 3:45 pm.

We enrich core instruction with Art, Physical Education, Career and Technology classes, Athletics, Band, and Choir. Our campus also offers instruction in the Dual program Spanish language and Honors classes.  Please encourage your child to try other things like school clubs and organizations.  Studies show that students that feel connected in school have higher grades, fewer absences and graduate from high school. Currently we have NJHS, Eco Cub, Band, Athletics, FCA, Theatre Arts, Spanish, Academic UIL, Cheer, Student Council, and Step.

I encourage you to stay in touch with your student's teachers and be involved with their education. Many times students do not want their parents to be involved in the school because it is thought to be "uncool".  We invite you to bring your child lunch or just to come and eat with your child.  We have specific tables set aside where you can do this.

We are a team and it will take all of us to ensure your student's success.Visit the calendar on this page, BMS Facebook        and follow my Twitter feed for other updates about BMS.  In addition, I try to send out a biweekly newsletter called the Bear Necessities through Skylert, but all links will be posted here as well.                              .

Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance.
